Payment, receipt and contra: which to use

Beginners often mix these up, especially in their first month of entries. Use F5 Payment when money leaves the business, such as paying rent or a supplier. Use F6 Receipt when money comes in from a customer. Use F4 Contra only for moves between your own cash and bank accounts, such as depositing cash into the bank. Getting this right keeps cash and bank books accurate.

Wrong voucher type after saving? Open the voucher from the Day Book and press the correct function key to change its type, then save again.
